My Next Move for Veterans makes it easy for veterans to discover which careers are eligible for the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program
(VRAP). The VRAP offers up to 12 months of training assistance to unemployed veterans between the ages of 35 and 60. The program is sponsored by the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Labor. Explore a list of eligible careers now!

Some states have more opportunities for particular careers than others. Each career report within My Next Move and My Next Move for Veterans now has a "Check Out My State" feature. Use the simple map to discover which states have an "above average" or "below average" share of a career within their workforce.

The Military Occupational Classification (MOC) crosswalk has been updated by the Department of Defense (April 2012) and incorporated into O*NET OnLine and My Next Move for Veterans. Over 10,000 MOC occupations are linked to related O*NET-SOC occupations. Transitioning military personnel can use their military code or title to discover related civilian occupations/careers within O*NET Online's Military Crosswalk Search or My Next Move for Veterans' Military Transition Search.

The update presents the current state of the green economy, outlines major workforce development challenges facing the green economy, and presents updated research on green New and Emerging occupations.

O*NET research reports, technical reports, and other useful O*NET material have been organized to make finding them easier. New categories and a new search mechanism provide easy and ready access to O*NET materials across a variety of topics. Additionally, the section has grown to include 66 different documents. The Bureau of Labor Statistics
(BLS) has released wage estimates for 2011 and an update of its Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH). The latest wages are now included in career reports within O*NET OnLine, My Next Move, and My Next Move for Veterans. The OOH Crosswalk Search and the occupational reports have been updated in O*NET OnLine to reflect the new OOH crosswalk and publication material.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics
(BLS) has released new employment projections for 2010 - 2020, along with updated industry employment data. This information is now included within O*NET OnLine, My Next Move, and My Next Move for Veterans. Importantly, this allows for the update of the Bright Outlook feature included within the O*NET sites, helping clients more accurately target careers where new job opportunities are likely in the future. In addition, the "Browse by Industry" searches within the O*NET sites are also updated to reflect more current employment patterns.

- December 2011 Tools and Technology database updated

The tools and technology (T2) file provides information on machines, equipment, tools, and software that workers may use for optimal functioning in a high performance workplace. With this update, over 45,000 tools and technologies have now been identified for 647 occupations, including all 200+ O*NET Green occupations and over 320 Bright Outlook occupations.
The O*NET Project welcomes feedback on the T2 database. T2 information for 216 occupations has been enhanced with the help of customer input. After reviewing an occupation's current T2 information, you can submit specific suggestions for adding more examples of tools or technology through our T2 feedback process.

The site has tasks, skills, salary information, job listings, and more for over 900 different careers. Highlights of this fall update include: 1) comprehensively updated data for 107 occupations from the O*NET 16.0 database, 2) identification and display of green tasks in the occupation reports, and 3) the conversion to the new 2010 Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) standard. The new O*NET-SOC 2010 taxonomy includes 1110 occupational titles, 974 of which represent O*NET data-level occupations. Additionally, the OnLine update includes the latest BLS wage data along with updated crosswalks to the new O*NET-SOC taxonomy.

With the release of the O*NET 16.0 development database, comprehensive data is now available for 857 O*NET-SOC occupations, including the 107 O*NET-SOCs updated within this release.
