O*NET® Career Exploration Tools — Developers
Overview
The O*NET® Career Exploration Tools are a suite of assessment tools designed for career counseling, career planning and exploration. The tools are designed to assist a wide variety of individuals to gain personal insights that will help them identify occupations that they might find satisfying. These instruments will help individuals identify their work-related interests, what they consider important on the job, and their abilities in order to explore those occupations that relate most closely to those attributes.
The tools can help workers consider career options and plan career preparation and transitions more effectively. Students and others new to the labor market can use the tools to explore career possibilities. Users of the tools may link directly to information on the more than 800 occupations described in the O*NET database, to occupational information in America's Career InfoNet, and to information in other career and labor market information systems. These systems allow individuals to relate their assessment results to the requirements of occupations in the local labor market.
Use of a variety of tools supports the whole-person approach to assessment, providing a firmer basis for individuals to make important career decisions. The O*NET Career Exploration Tools are designed to be used separately or in combination with each other. They can also be used along with other available assessment instruments, as appropriate, to meet the needs of individuals being assessed or relevant program objectives.
